Arsenal plot audacious swoop to sign Ousmane Dembele
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make an audacious swoop to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele, as per Caught Offside.
After a difficult spell plagued by injuries at Barcelona, the Frenchman opted to move to Parc des Princes ahead of last season. The 27-year-old displayed a steady performance last term but has been in stellar form this season.
He has guided his team to win the Ligue 1 title and has helped them reach the semi-final of the Champions League. PSG have also reached the final of the Coupe de France and won the French Super Cup earlier this season. So, they have an opportunity to win the treble.
In 42 appearances in all competitions, the France international has netted 32 times and registered nine assists thus far this campaign.
Now, Caught Offside state that Arsenal are big admirers of Dembele and could make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
However, the Gunners aren’t the only club plotting a swoop for him as Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are also keen on securing his service.
Dembele to Arsenal
The forward is valued at around £64m by Transfermarkt and still has three years left in his current contract. So, PSG are in a strong position to demand a big fee to sell him, but they don’t want to part ways with him and want to tie him down to a fresh term.
The forward is comfortable with both feet and is a right winger by trait, but has been showcasing his best for Les Parisiens this season as a centre-forward.
Arsenal reportedly want a new striker this summer and have been linked with numerous names, but perhaps, they now want Dembele following his recent eye-catching displays.
The 27-year-old is one of the best forwards in the world at the moment and would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, PSG don’t like selling their stars, and it will be a daunting task for Arsenal to get the deal done.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually make a concrete approach to purchase him in the upcoming transfer window.
