Arsenal are reportedly ‘strong contenders’ to sign Barcelona forward Raphinha, as per Caught Offside.

After displaying impressive performances for Leeds United, the Brazilian attracted a lot of attention a few years ago. The Gunners and Chelsea were said to be interested in him, but he eventually opted to join the Blaugrana.

Upon moving to Camp Nou, the 28-year-old initially struggled to find his feet in his new surroundings. But he has been in stellar form this season, scoring 30 goals and registering 21 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

Moreover, the South American has been propelling his side to win the treble. The Catalan giants are currently at the top of La Liga with a four-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid.

Moreover, they have reached the semi-final of the Champions League and will play against Inter Milan next week. Barcelona have even reached the final of the Copa del Rey and will play against Los Blancos this weekend.

Furthermore, Raphinha has helped his side win the Supercopa de España by defeating Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the final earlier this season.

Raphinha to Arsenal

Now, Caught Offside claim that Barcelona have even been in talks with the forward to extend his deal, which will run until 2027. But, he wants a big salary, and the Blaugrana might find it difficult to match his demands amid their financial difficulties.

Therefore, Raphinha will have to lower his wage demand to sign an extension with the Spanish giants. If they eventually fail to tie him down to a fresh term, they are ready to cash-in on him should they receive an offer of at least £68m.

Despite failing to purchase Raphinha last time around, Arsenal remain keen on signing him and are ‘strong contenders’ to get the deal done. However, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are also in this race, so Arsenal will have to beat tough competition over this deal.

Raphinha is a hardworking, versatile forward and previously proved his worth in the Premier League. He can play on either flank and in the CAM role. Therefore, the Brazilian would be a great coup for Arsenal if they eventually manage to secure his service.
