Arsenal - Martinelli and saka

Following Liverpool’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, the Reds have become the Premier League champions this season.

So, Arsenal now miss out on winning the title in three consecutive campaigns, having established themselves as the title contenders under Mikel Arteta.

Still, the Gunners can end the season successfully if they win the Champions League. They haven’t been able to lift this trophy yet, therefore, if they win it this term, it will be a historic moment.

Arsenal will take on Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg of the semi-final tonight. They faced off against Luis Enrique’s side in this competition in the league phase earlier this season and comfortably won the game 2-0.

Arsenal will be coming into this stage after beating Real Madrid in the quarterfinal, so they will be full of confidence at the moment.

Team news

Arteta will be without several key players for this encounter as Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Takehiro Tomiyasu’s season is over due to their injury problems.

Moreover, Thomas Partey is suspended, having picked up a silly yellow card last time out against Real Madrid in the quarter-final second leg. This was his third booking of this competition.

Mikel Merino was unavailable in the last game against Crystal Palace due to a minor issue, but he should be fit to start tonight. Ben White is also set to be available, but Jorginho and Riccardo Calafiori remain sidelined owing to their injuries.

Predicted line-up

David Raya is set to be between the sticks, and in front of the Spaniard, William Saliba and Jakub Kiwior should be the centre-back pairing. Jurrien Timber and Myles Lewis-Skelly are expected to be the two fullbacks. Therefore, White might be among the substitutes.

With Jorginho and Partey unavailable, Declan Rice may commence in the deep-lying playmaker position. Merino and Martin Odegaard are expected to complete the midfield trio.

Bukayo Saka could be on the right flank, while Gabriel Martinelli would be on the opposite side. Leandro Trossard is likely to be called upon to lead the line for the hosts. Therefore, Ethan Nwaneri should feature off the bench.

Expected Arsenal line-up vs PSG
