“I Speak To Per & Mesut About Arsenal” – Draxler Talks Up Gunners Move
German starlet Julian Draxler has dropped the biggest hint yet that he could make a big-money switch to Arsenal next summer.
The 20-year-old has become one of the hottest properties in the world since breaking into the Schalke first team and he’s attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in recent months.
We were strongly linked with a move in the summer before we signed Mesut Ozil and there’s been talk Arsene Wenger may renew his interest when the transfer window re-opens in January.
However, while Draxler has insisted he wont be leaving Schalke this winter as it may jeopardise his place at the World Cup, he has opened the door to a potential switch to the Emirates next summer.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror today, the attacker has revealed that hes been speaking to Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil about life in north London and said that Arsenal are a “very, very nice team” who plays the kind of attacking football he likes.
“No way. I won’t switch then [in January]. It’s very important for me to play nearly every game. For my club I have the chance to play nearly every game, it’s important for me to improve myself.
“I’ve said every summer I have to look what is the best for me and I will do in the summer again and we will see what happens.”
“I have always said English teams are very big clubs and Arsenal is of course one of them.
“Of course I sometimes speak to Mesut or Per about the team, about the club, and they always have good words and they tell me nice things. You never know what happens in the summer but Arsenal is a very, very nice team.”
“They always have very young players, they play attractive football and that’s what I like.”
The Germany midfielder has a €45million release clause in his contract, so we’re going to have to dig deep if we want to buy him, but it would certainly be a major coup if we could pull it off.
Draxler is a hugely talented attacking midfielder and would fit seamlessly into out current system and to see him linking up with the likes of Ozil and Cazorla is a mouthwatering prospect.
We won’t be the only club interested if he does decide he wants a new challenge next summer, but it seems we’ll have as good a chance as anybody else of signing him.
Would you like to see Draxler come to the club in the summer?
