FA Reject Wilshere’s Appeal – Midfielder Now Misses Chelsea & West Ham

Surprise, surprise, Jack Wilshere will now miss our next two games against Chelsea and West Ham after the FA rejected his appeal.

Jack was charged with misconduct after swearing at the Manchester City fans during our 6-3 defeat on Saturday. While he accepted the charge, he appealed the mandatory two-game suspension that came with it.

Arsenal and Wilshere felt the ban was unfair considering Luis Suarez was only handed a one-game suspension for the same offense while playing for Liverpool against Fulham two years ago.

However, after a quick review, unsurprisingly the FA have rejected his appeal and Wilshere will now miss our next two games starting this Monday against Chelsea, followed by our trip to Upton Park to take on West Ham on Boxing Day.

A statement on the FA’s website read:

Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere has been suspended for two matches by an Independent Regulatory Commission.

Wilshere was charged by The FA with making an offensive and/or insulting and/or abusive gesture during the fixture between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 14 December. The incident was not seen by match officials but was caught on video.

Whilst admitting the charge, Wilshere claimed the standard sanction for this offence was clearly excessive. The Commission rejected this claim and the two match suspension will commence with immediate effect.
