Wenger On Ramsey’s Injury – “It Looks Serious”
Arsenal came from behind to beat West Ham 3-1 this afternoon but the game was marred by an injury to Aaron Ramsey.
The midfielder was forced off early in the second half with a thigh injury, and he immediately gestured to the bench suggesting something was torn.
Arsene Wenger spoke with the media after the game and gave an update on Ramsey’s injury, confirming it’s a thigh problem that “looks serious” but while he doesn’t know how long the Welshman will be out for, the boss ruled him out of the rest of the restive period.
Wenger told Arsenal.com:
on the seriousness of Ramsey’s injury…
It looks [serious]. It looks like a thigh strain. I don’t know how serious the thigh strain is but the Christmas period certainly is over for him. It was his birthday today.
on how long he will be out for…
I don’t know how long. We will see tomorrow morning.
on Ramsey’s gestures when he got injured…
He knew straight away but we have to see.
It’s a real shame that Rambo has picked up this injury and hopefully he’s not out for too long. Of course it comes at a bad time as we have such a hectic fixture list and he’s been in excellent form, but thankfully we have decent cover in the centre of midfield.
Jack Wilshere will be available to face Newcastle and Mathieu Flamini hasn’t started the last two games, so should be fresh. We should have sufficient cover as long as we don’t pick up any more injuries in midfield, but let’s wait for more information on how long Rambo will be sidelined for.
