Advisor Confident Ozil Wont Be Charged For ‘Hitting Photographer’ With His Car
Mesut Ozil’s media advisor doesn’t expect the playmaker to be charged by police for allegedly hitting a photographer with his car.
Reports emerged over the weekend suggesting that the German international had been questioned by the Metropolitan Police over allegations he hit a photographer with his car on Friday night.
However, the players media advisor, Ronald Eitel, has now been quoted by ESPN as saying that these reports are inaccurate and that Ozil has already “received positive signals” from the Police that he won’t be charged.
Eitel went on to reveal further details on the incident and suggested that it was the photographer who provoked things after chasing the players car when he arrived home on Friday night:
“When Mesut got home with a friend on Friday evening, several photographers were waiting at his front door,”
“Mesut drove up the driveway, and he was chased by a photographer, who was hitting his car and destroyed his wing mirror.”
So from Eitel’s take on things, it sounds like instead of Ozil being charged for hitting the photographer with his car, the photographer should be charged with criminal damage for destroying his wing mirror.
As ever, the media have made waaaaay more of this ‘incident’ than necessary.
