RATINGS From Arsenal’s Shambolic 3-0 Loss To Everton

By on April 6, 2014

Arsenal produced another shambolic away performance to lose 3-0 to Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon. Here are my ratings:

Szczesny 5/10 | He was left with little protection from those in front of him. Was pretty unlucky for the first goal as his save fell straight to Naismith and he also made a decent save before Arteta put through his own net.

Sagna 5/10 | Was one of the few players who came out of the game with any credit.

Monreal 3/10 | His worst display in an Arsenal shirt? At fault for the first two goals and was all over the place at times.

Mertesacker 4/10 | Disappointing display from the BFG. Nowhere near as comfortable with Vermaelen as he is with Kos.

Vermaelen 3/10 | Very poor from the skipper. He was caught out for the opener and allowed Lukaku to cut inside to score the second.

Arteta 2/10 | Once again, my prediction that Arteta would struggle proved accurate. The Spaniard was completely lost in midfield. It’s obvious his legs are gone and his lack of pace is being exposed time and time again.

Flamini 4/10 | Tried his best to cover for Arteta and was getting forward more than usual.

Rosicky 4/10 | Worked hard but couldn’t really have any real influence in the final third.

Cazorla 4/10 | With Ozil out we really needed Santi to step up and provide a creative spark but he didn’t rise to the challenge.

Podolski 4/10 | Had a couple of speculative shots but couldn’t really get in the game before his predictable substitution midway through the second half.

Giroud 3/10 | Useless, again. He’s running out of excuses for his abysmal form in the big games. His lack of pace was shown up again as he failed to latch on to a short back pace, and Everton went straight up the other end and opened the scoring. Another key moment and Giroud fails to come up with the goods.

Subs:

Ramsey  5.5/10 | Great to see him back and we looked miles better with him in midfield.

The Ox 6/10 | Should certainly have started and immediately gave us more impetus in attack when he came on. Hit the bar with a lovely strike.

Sanogo 5/10 | Saw his first goal ruled out incorrectly for offside.

The scrap for fourth is now on. Everton will leapfrog us if they avoid defeat away at Sunderland next weekend but we still have the more favourable fixture list, so I’m still confident we can do it. Ramsey is back and Ozil and Koscielny are expected to follow soon, so hopefully we’ll have enough to get over the line.

Failure to finish fourth and win the FA Cup is likely to spell the end for Arsene Wenger, and even if we meet those targets many fans are calling for change. And following todays performance, it’s difficult to argue with the AOB right now.

What did you think of the game? Is it time for a change in management?
