Arsenal ‘Disappointed’ After Receiving Just 25,000 Cup Final Tickets
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has rightfully expressed the clubs disappointment after being allocated just 25,000 tickets for next months FA Cup final against Hull City.
We received 49,000 for the semi final on Saturday after Wigan returned some of their allocation, so it’s a massive disappointment to be handed just 25,000 for the showpiece final on the 17th May.
Gazidis correctly points out that Arsenal have 45,000 season ticket holders and around 150,000 members, not to mention the thousands who aren’t members who would also like to attend, so 25,000 tickets isn’t anywhere near enough to fill the demand.
Gazidis told Arsenal.com:
“We are disappointed many of our supporters and also those of Hull City will be unable to get tickets to the cup final.
“We fully understand this is the showpiece FA fixture to celebrate the game as a whole, but we also believe the loyal supporters of the competing teams deserve a greater chance to see their team play in what is one of the biggest matches of the season. The balance in the FA’s allocation system is not right.
“Arsenal have approximately 45,000 season ticket holders and 150,000 members, many of whom come to games.
“They all give us their loyal support throughout a season but with the FA Cup final allocation at 25,000 there will be many disappointed Arsenal fans, who have supported the Club home and away for years, who will be unable to get a ticket to this historic match.”
The FA have done this for years so we shouldn’t be surprised. They will hand out thousands of tickets to the corporate sponsors and those they like to call the ‘football family’.
The club are planning to show the Cup final on screens at the Emirates Stadium so Arsenal fans who don’t get a ticket for Wembley can still watch the game en mass together. Gazidis continued:
“We want this to be a special day for Arsenal fans wherever they are, and the screening will be a great way for thousands of our supporters who are unable to get to Wembley to watch the match together at Emirates Stadium.”
Hopefully as many Gooners as possible can get their hands on a ticket outwith the 25,000 we’ve been given as the atmosphere was excellent on Saturday.
