Arsenal ‘Set To Make £15m Midfielder Bid’ – Reports

By on May 26, 2014

According to reports in the newspapers, Arsenal are ready to submit a £15m bid for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

The German international was linked with a move to the Emirates back in January but any potential deal was put on the back-burner due to the severity of a knee injury he picked up in October.

The injury saw the 27-year-old miss practically the entire second half of the season but he managed to return in time to take his place in the Madrid line-up against Atletico Madrid in Saturday’s Champions League final.

However, with just one year remaining on his current deal at the Bernabeu it looks like Arsene Wenger is eyeing an audacious swoop with the Mirror claiming that the boss is set to table a £15m offer.

A defensive midfielder is high on Arsene’s priority list and Khedira would obviously be an excellent signing, but I’m not sure we’re going to have any chance of luring him away from the newly-crowned European Champions.

He’s been an important player for the Spaniard’s in recent seasons and has shown no sign that he wants to leave or find a new challenge. Chelsea have also been linked so even if he was available, we’d face some stiff competition for his signature as Jose Mourinho had a good relationship with him during his time at Real.

We might have a chance of pulling it off if a new deal isn’t agreed this summer, as Madrid would then run the risk of losing him for nothing next year, but if I was a betting man I’d back the German penning a new contract in the coming months and staying in Spain.
