Wenger Confirms Theo Walcott Comeback Date
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has given an update on Theo Walcott’s recovery and revealed that he expects the attacker back in full training at the end of August.
Theo ruptured knee ligaments during our FA Cup win over Tottenham back in January and was ruled out for the rest of the season as well as the World Cup finals following surgery.
Jack Wilshere posted a photo with Waclott yesterday which confirmed the winger was back in his boots and out on the training pitch for the first time since his surgery, and now Arsene has given us an update.
The boss told Arsenal.com that Theo is expected back in full training at the end of August and says it could be ‘very quick’ for him to be back in contention for the first team.
on Theo Walcott…
He’s progressing very well. He’s worked very hard during the summer and we expect him to be back in full training at the end of August.
on how long it will take for Walcott to get back in the team…
That’s difficult to predict. Once he’s back in full training it can be very quick. He has a good basis, which is what he’s working on now.
This means Walcott should be back in action in September which is exactly the nine months we thought he’d be out for when he picked up the injury in January.
It’s certainly encouraging to hear he’s progressing well and on course to make his comeback, and it can’t come soon enough as we’ve sorely missed his pace and goal threat while he’s been out.
