Ox Left Out As Arsenal Squad For New York Red Bulls Game Announced
Arsene Wenger has taken a 20-man squad with him to the United States to take on New York Red Bulls on Saturday night.
The squad flew out on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the game against Thierry Henry’s side this weekend.
While we’ve seen some ‘selfies’ posted on social media confirming a few of the players on board the plane, the full 20-man squad was announced on New York Red Bulls official site:
- Goalkeepers: Damien Martinez, Wojciech Szczesny
- Defenders: Hector Bellerin, Kieran Gibbs, Isaac Hayden, Carl Jenkinson, Ignasi Miquel, Nacho Monreal
- Midfielders: Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Abou Diaby, Mathieu Flamini, Kristoffer Olsson, Aaron Ramsey, Tomas Rosicky, Jon Toral, Jack Wilshere, Gedion Zelalem
- Forward: Chuba Akpom
The first thing that stands out is the lack of strikers with Yaya Sanogo and Benik Afobe conspicuous by their absence. If Sanogo hasn’t picked up a knock I think this indicates he could be set for a loan move.
The likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott are also left back in north London to continue to work on their fitness after recent injuries.
