Wenger Confirms Triple Injury Blow Ahead Of Dortmund Clash
Arsene Wenger has confirmed three key Arsenal first team players won’t be available to face face Borussia Dortmund tomorrow night.
As we reported earlier, Jack Wilshere missed training this morning and it looks like he’s facing a spell on the sidelines after Arsene confirmed he suffered a ‘big ankle sprain’ against Man Utd on Saturday.
There are rumours circulating that he could be out for up to 10 weeks but Arsene refused to be drawn on a time-scale, instead simply saying he’ll be ‘out a while’ but we’ll know more once Jack sees a specialist next week.
He told reporters:
“On Jack I cannot give you any time schedule. He will be out a while. He must see a specialist next week to see how long he will be out.”
“He has a big ankle sprain and I don’t want to talk about it because I’m not a specialist medically,” he said.
“The first news is they have told us that he will be out for the next few games. For how long, we will need to see a specialist.”
The Telegraph claim Wilshere will be out for a minimum of two weeks but it could easily be longer if we get bad news from the specialist next week.
Let’s hope for positive news but Jack is certain to sit out the Dortmund game as well as the upcoming trip to West Brom.
In a further blow, the boss revealed that Theo Walcott and Wojciech Szczesny will also miss tomorrow’s clash.
Theo picked up a groin injury when he was away with England while Szczesny was forced off against United after suffering a hip injury during the calamitous opening goal on Saturday.
Arsene told Arsenal.com:
Walcott is out for the same groin problem he came back with from England and Szczesny is out as well.
Thankfully neither injury is thought to be too serious but they are enough to see the duo miss out against Dortmund.
With Olivier Giroud also out as he’s ineligible, we have a much weaker squad to choose from compared to the weekend so the likes of Emiliano Martinez, Lukas Podolski, Tomas Rosicky and maybe even Yaya Sanogo could feature.
