Trio Set For Arsenal Return As Wenger Confirms Injury Boost
Mathieu Flamini, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil could all return against Stoke on Sunday as Arsenal’s injury crisis shows signs of easing.
Speaking after Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Hull City at the Emirates, Arsene Wenger confirmed that Flamini is expected to be passed fit this weekend after missing the last two games with a minor knock.
The boss also indicated that Ramsey has a chance of making his return after a month out with a hamstring injury, so we could have some vital options in the middle of the park.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came on for the last 15 minutes last night but finished the game limping after taking a blow to his knee, but thankfully Arsene has confirmed the midfielder is okay and it was just a knock.
However, it’s not all good news as Mikel Arteta is no closer to returning from a calf injury that’s already seen him miss six weeks.
Wenger said:
on whether any midfielders could return next week…
Mathieu Flamini could be back, Aaron Ramsey has a little chance. Nobody else. Mikel Arteta will be longer. I think Flamini should be available for selection and maybe Ramsey has a little chance to be back.
on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain…
It’s just a knock, he should be alright.
It will be great to have Flamini and possibly Ramsey back this weekend as we’ve had very few options to rotate in the center of midfield over the Christmas period.
In what should be a triple boost, widespread reports suggest that Ozil will also be back in the squad this weekend for the first time in over three months, so there certainly looks to be light at the end of the tunnel in terms of our injury list.
