Arsene Wenger Confirms Double Injury Blow
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mathieu Debuchy has dislocated his shoulder while Kieran Gibbs is also struggling with a ankle problem.
Debuchy was forced off early on during our 3-0 win over Stoke on Sunday after being shoved to the ground by Arnoutovic.
He was seen clutching his shoulder as he was stretchered from the field and Arsene has now confirmed that the Frenchman has suffered a dislocation and is facing a spell on the sidelines.
Gibbs was expected to return to the squad today having missed last weeks FA Cup win over Hull with an ankle injury.
However, he failed a late fitness test and the boss has revealed that the full-back is still struggling with an inflamed ankle.
Wenger said:
“He has a dislocated shoulder. It’s difficult – you need a diagnosis from a specialist. We don’t know yet but he will certainly not play next week.
Kieran Gibbs still has an inflamed ankle. The test yesterday told us it didn’t work.” Wenger told Arsenal.com
We’ll have to wait and see what the specialist says about Debuchy’s injury but I expect he’ll be out for at least a month, which is a huge blow considering he’s only recently returned from a serious ankle injury.
Hopefully the Gibbs injury is just short term but if the ankle doesn’t calm down over the coming days, it looks like he’ll be a doubt to face Man City next weekend.
So just as it looked like we were getting our squad back together, we’ve picked up another two injuries. One day our luck will change. One day….
